What Does It Do?

Hey Guys!
I'm BAAAAACK!
So, my trip was great! New York is amazing and I've decided I'm moving back there. Yep, no more Toronto for me, the stupid politics, stupid weather, stupid subway, and most importantly the stupid waiting for shows to come to Toronto. It's so annoying! I'm constantly checking to see if and when Avenue Q and Hair are coming to Toronto (which as of now, neither are :( ) So for the first picture its of the sign for American Idiot and OMG let me tell you, such a good show!!!! No, not the best I have ever seen Spring Awakening is in my opinion incredibly hard to beat. Also the show strangely enough was only one act... should that be capitalized? I'll make it, the show was only One Act. But still, the performance's were great and John Gallagher Jr. is God. No joke, he is amazing! And this by the way answers Lee's question t best Holiday gift. My parents for the first time let my brother and I go see a show that we wanted to see, and it was so much fun! So yeah best gift this holiday season.
Lalalalalala
Hmm... what else... Oh, so because it was Christmas in New York we decided to do visit the iconic FAO Schwartz and well, not gonna lie I was disappointed. Being an ex-New Yorker... (I lived there for a year... I say that would count!) and a regular tourist we have our hots spots in FAO. Anyways what was disappointing is that shelves and cases were empty! We walked into the Harry Potter part and all of the dolls were gone! They only had Slytherin ties and well that was really disappointing. Plus I couldn't find the Lego bunch that we found in 2007 pictured over there. So yeah, I don't really recommend FAO at Christmas, cause its actually worse and has A LOT more people.
Speaking of people, OMG I have never seen so many people in my life in New York. It was sheer madness! Or rather cows, herds of cows. So that picture shows you how many people were at Rockefeller to see the tree, it took us a good 15 minutes to just get around the corner! But below that picture is a better shot of the tree. It is very beautiful. There are 30,00 light bulbs on it, and it has steel wires supporting it so you know it doesn't crush people... But yeah. Real pretty. The funniest bit from while looking at the tree was when we left we crossed path with a family. The mom turns to her son and says "look its the tree!" He replies with, "cool! what does it do?" Oh children of today!
Ok, so I have sent you three postcards from the trip. Unfortunately I didn't get them until my last day... at 11 o'clock at night, but I did write them while I was in New York... I sent them from Montreal though... hence the Canadian stamp... but at the bottom I wrote a number... can you guess what it is? If you've gotten it yet?
On another sad side note, I wanted to send you postcards from Montreal, but of course the dollar store near my grandparents no longer sells postcards cause no one buys them!
This isn't my Friday question, just a question. But how was every one's boxing day? Do you guys go shopping then? I do, and its a load of fun! Thanks to HMV I got a free Glee CD (the Rocky Horror one, I wouldn't pay $11 for only 7 songs.)
Yeah! Ok... so what else... umm... Oh! Ok. So its currently 2 o'clock and that means only 10 hours left of 2010! I can't believe it! Craziness! 2010 defiantly was a crazy emotional year for me, but at the same time one of the best years of my life! So yeah, reflect on your 2010, maybe share your 2010 song, favourite and least favourite moments, may i suggest pictures, videos, sounds bites, etc. Just make it a media blitz!
Well that's it for Miah dans 2010 till next year!

So yeah bloggy!
Um, I think at the time of this blog I should be coming home or be stuck in Montreal due to weather conditions. Or I may just be in Montreal anyways... I actually asked my Dad when we were coming home, he said he didn't know... so yeah! I actually can not post in Montreal because my grand parents have no internet, which to be honest is really nice. All I do pretty much is read.

Belated!

Hello hello, like a weekend late. But it was the Christmas weekend, and what's the Christmas spirit if not a spirit of forgiveness? So… hi! I had a good Christmas. Lots of presents and lots of good food. Great time for a half jew/agnostic/lame-o.

Went skating today and it was great! Not even too cold, since my mom gave me some cool long underwear. Drinking hot chocolate now. Hooray!

Yeah man I dunno what to say. Happy holidays! And a happy new year. ^^

Friday (*ahem* Monday) question: What were your best presents this holiday season?

-Lee

Christmas may not sparkle anymore but it still ROCKS!!

Hey guys!!
Guess what? Christmas already happened! Now this means two things (well probably more than two but...) one, I failed at doing my blog on time because Christmas fell on a Saturday this year and I blog on Thursday, and two, that I already got LOADS of wonderful gifts! Hooray!
You know I've sort of found that over the years (and I know people say this all the time and it's like super cliché) that I don't feel the same about Christmas, like it's lost it's magic. Now that could be because I know now that Santa does not, in fact, exist, as I had believed in my youth. I think I found out about that one pretty gradually but it still meant that the major source of the Christmas magic was gone. But it could also have lost its magic because as I get older I actually know exactly what I want and to make sure I get it I ask my parents, or make a list. Either way, I know a lot of the things I'm going to get before I open my gifts so there aren't as many gift surprises as there used to be....Taking all of that into consideration, Christmas still fuckin rocks cuz I get so many new clothes and MOVIES (ya movies!!) And PIANO MUSIC! And JEWELRY!! It's fantastic.
Anywho, I had a great Christmas with my family and even had the chance to fly around a toy helicopter, which my twenty something cousin got, and nearly beheaded some members of my extended family. Good times man, Good times :P
Till next time!!

Miah the American Idiot

Hello, if you are reading this then you are in the future. Because I am currently writing this on Monday December 20th 2010 at 7:23 pm...
You might be asking why? Well... I'll be in New York!!!!! Its easily one of my favourite cities in the world, only followed by the one I live in. I've set this to go up at the same time that I'll be seated for American Idiot the musical. (Because of the show, I don't think I'll have time to post so yeah...) And let me tell you I am excited, worried though that it may not live up to my expatiation's... so lets hope!
Umm... so I will be in New York for a few days and then in Montreal... but my grand parents have no Internet so next weeks post shall be written now too.
As far as outdoor winter actives I do nothing. I don't skate or ski... My grand parents were always shocked by the fact that I don't skate, cause apparently my parents went all the time as kids but never took us. But then again I'm not much of an outdoorsy person during any season. I usually just like going for walks. I remember when I was little every season we would do the same walk to see how the world (or neighbourhood really...) has changed, its pretty cool seeing a bush blossom in spring, fully grown in summer, wilt in fall and bare in winter. So I guess my activity is walking.
Ok. Till Next week! (Or in my case a couple of hours... this needs to be spread out a bit... blogging.)

Miah

P.S You guys should all watch the Kennedy Awards, they are really great and interesting. It honours people (celebrities... or artist really) who've had an impact on the worlds and specifically the states culture. This year its honours Bill T. Jones (Choreographer of Spring Awakening), Paul McCartney and Oprah. I think its going to be a really great show! Its on CBS Tuesday December 28 at 9pm.

Metal mouth

Hey guys,

I had ortho today, and now I have a shiny new bottom retainer to match my top retainer. I lisp, my teeth are psychosomatically itchy, and it's kind of gross. Oh well… the things we do for nicer smiles.

Instead of wearing them once a week, as I had been told to do with my top retainer, my orthodontist suggests "as much as [I] can". The more I wear them, the faster the straightening process. So… guess who's wearing retainers and will be doing so for like… a lot of the time. Me … me. :/

Whatever, I'm over it.

Ooh I'm going to wrap presents soon! Sorry Evie, yours still isn't here. But I got a few in the mail and wrap wrap here it goes, gonna make them look lovely.

Let's hang out.

Byee!

Dinner must be made!

Well... ELM you just left from my house where we had a lovely afternoon of gift exchange and we watched Love Actually. Thanks again for the gifts! :D

So I don’t have much time, I have to go get dinner ready but what I love outside about winter is skating and playing in the show. We actually have enough snow for snowballs etc. and I like that!

Anyway I have to go finish getting dinner ready.

Till next time,

Rae <3

Out of time...

Not much time today... got home last night and have had a full day of stuff.

Question: Winter is pretty much here... what do you like doing outside during winter?

Till next time,

Rae <3

p.s. I forgot to say this but today is Project for Awesome!!!

Evie talks Catering!

Alrighty then. I've literally got no time right now, but the thing is I won't have a whole lotta time for a couple of days so I'll just do a quickie blog now. Ha! Didn't it sound, just for a second, like I was talking about sex!? Get your mind out of the gutter Evie!
Anywho, this week has actually been a little hectic. Not super crazy, just stressful enough for me to get a cold and go on more than one emergency shopping trip during which I came close to tears. No big. Seriously, I'd forgotten how stressful work can be! Yup, that's right, Evie works. I do a bit of part time work for a catering company. Mostly coat check, you know the people who take your coat at the door and then lose during the course of the party so there's a big kerfuffle at the end of the night while they search frantically for it so they don't get fired? Yea, that's me. But sometimes I serve the hors d'oeuvres or walk around collecting empty glasses to bring back to the kitchen. You may be thinking it doesn't sound all that stressful, if so, you'd be thinking wrong. Try spending ten hours fielding drunken questions, standing around in shoes that don't fit because you couldn't find black flats the night before, while maintaining a cheerful and polite manner. The bright light at the end of the tunnel is the 70 dollar tip I get at the end of the night, on top of the 12 bucks an hour I get paid. Yay money! :D So I guess it's worth it in the end. Also the hilarious antics of the very rich but very drunk always provide some entertainment for the rest of us. Wow, okay. No more time.
I'll just answer the question of the week super fast. When I am feeling down my best methods for distracting myself are chick flicks (Notebook, Shakespeare in Love, Down with Love, the list goes on :P) or chick literature. Meg Cabot can lift even the darkest of moods.
Right-O! Till next week my friends!
Evie :)

What For?

OK. So I've been enjoying the lovely month break that I have. By well, kind of doing nothing, it’s been nice. I've been playing the Sims, knitting a Harry Potter scarf, writing a film script, working on presents for the R.E.L. and yeah ... I like being a veggie... just for a couple days but I am getting bored. Today I was supposed to meet up with a cousin for lunch... but she had to "work" what ever that means...
Hmm what else, oh Sunday I went to my... OK well they aren't my other side; they are family friends that are more like cousins. Like we refer to each other as cousins rather then friends. So I call them my third side. Anyways I'm going to be a huge annoying big cousin, but my cousin who is 30 has a 1 year old son, he's... actually 21 months old. So later in the party my brother and I were playing with him in my aunts basement. It was awesome because he's starting to recognize my brother and I; he's really shy and only talks to small amounts of people. (He is also the most brilliant 21 months old I have ever met. I can say this because in my lifetime, with all 3 sides of my family I've known a lot of babies.) So we're having fun in the basement playing with cars and trucks, and my cousin comes down stairs and says to him "ok its time to go home." my baby cousin looks to her and says "what for?" hahahahahaha! He's so cute its ridiculous!!!!
Ok so yep. That's all of the excitement in my life. Well except that I am going to New York and Montreal on Tuesday... I'm excited. I'm going to see American Idiot! So excited!!!!
As far as how I get happy again. Well let’s see... like the others I listen to music. Specifically the Spring Awakening sound track, because well I get all of my anger out in the first bit and by the end I'm good. But yeah, music in general. When I'm really sad, like when my grand parents passed away I watched shows that make me happy. When it was my grand father it was Ellen, and when it was my grand mother it was Glee and Ellen. Also YouTube, and Harry Potter cast stuff. Just distractions really. I try to laugh really, because it is the greatest medicine. Not allowing the sorrow to swallow you whole. Woah. I got deep...
OK. Gonna go back to watching the news, (my cousin is a reporter and she and her baby are collecting toys on TV... they were handing out cupcakes and if there’s one thing he likes its chocolate cake. Sunday we were also celebrating birthdays... and well there was cake. He actually was jumping in anticipation of cake. Anywho I noticed that he was eyeing the cupcakes, they cut away for some news then cut back to the crowd (and talk to my cousin) and low and behold he was eating cake!)
Miah
P.S. Sorry for the running sentences... I really really like 'em, ok not actually but sorry.

UWO

Hey guys! I had a break before my last exam, so I VIA-railed it up to snowy London, Ontario. Accent on snowy. My goodness, it's quite the winter wonderland. Even nicer because I don't have to go anywhere in it. :P

So these days I'm just gearing up for my chem. Chemmmmm oh why dost thou have to contain so much material. It'll be fine though. It'll be fine.

But wait! Confession time. Rae, I still haven't gotten you your Christmas present. What would you like, sweet lady? What does your heart desire in Kingston? It's actually the weirdest thing. Wherever I look, I keep thinking, "wow, Miah would love that!" But um Miah's present's covered so... what would Rae like??

Time to go study some more, so I don't fail university. But first, an attempt at an answer to Evie's question. What do I do to get happy?

A great question. Usually when I get grumpy or start holding grudges, there are two standard options. Wait for time to smooth my emotions over, or distract myself. The first option takes a long long time, so it's usually up to the second one. Talking to people I'm not mad at at the time is usually best, or just joking around in general. Maybe watch a show, play some games. Whatever gets me laughing!

Maybe I'll need some laughs after this chem study session! :P

See ya laaater,
Lee

iPod, Puffy and Shopping!

Evie to answer your question: When you're feeling really down and need a distraction or something, what do you do to make yourself feel better? What helps you get happy?

The answer is simple... this.

When I need a pick-me-up all I need is some tunes from my iPod and my doll named Puff who I have had almost since I was born. She is my only material possession that I could not live without. When it comes to the tunes it varies, it all depends on what I am really into at the time. Right now it would be pretty much any of my YouTube music epically Alex Day (the same guy from last week).

Today was a good day; I finished all my holiday gift shopping!

I spent like four hours at the mall finishing up. I’m so glad that I am done! All I have left to do is wrap it all.

This week is very different from last. I have class tomorrow where all I have to do is watch presentations then on Thursday I have a short test for personal fitness (30 multiple choice questions) then my Daddy will be here to take me and my roommate home! That means that my next blog will be from home.

Anyway I am super tired from shopping today so I am going to take a shower and then just crawl into bed and be warm.

Till next time,

Rae <3

Nicole + Enrique = awesome music...who knew?

Right-O! I know this post is a tad late and has to count as two separate posts but well...I'm sure you'll deal :D
SO. The song that stuck in my head right now? Honestly I just read all the blogs from this week so I've kind of got a mix up of all your guys' songs in my head but I can tell you what song I had stuck in my head ALL of yesterday, I think I even fell asleep singing it to myself. Also I downloaded the piano music for it. It's just me getting into the Holiday Season! It's a fantastic song, I know. And funny too! That's one talented little girl, no? I literally sang that song all day yesterday. I totally got my brother singing it too :P
The song I'm secretly obsessing over right now? Well, I only heard it like once or twice on Much Music but I totally fell in love with it EVEN THOUGH I never really listened to either of the singers' music before. And who would have ever guessed these two would sing together? I mean seriously, it's so random...OMG I just watched the video again. I like the parts where there's light playing across their skin where their hearts would be, it's so pretty! But I won't lie, Nicole Scherzinger still manages to make it tacky with the whole red bra under black lace that despite being black is surprisingly thin and therefore completely see through. *Sigh, she's got such style, gyrating on the floor. If she didn't look like such a stripper the video would be a lot cooler, ya?
Anywho that's my new guilty pleasure song because, honestly, if I told someone about it and they were like "oh, who sings it?" and then I told then Enrique Iglesias and Nicole Scherzinger they would laugh. Loudly. In my face. So yea.
Not too much happened this week. OH WAIT! I totally went to my old high school (how weird does that sound? 'Old' high school?) and watched the winter concert and it made me all nostalgic for band. Yup that's right. Evie was a bandie. Band geek. Whatever you call it, I was that :) And I loved it. I totally had an awesome teacher and an official place at my school. Nice right? Right. It was also really nice seeing some fellow graduates that I haven't had the chance to talk to really since like commencement. Yay for band! Oh ya, I played the trumpet, in case you wondered :P
Alright, so this week's question...it's a personal one this week guys:
When you're feeling really down and need a distraction or something, what do you do to make yourself feel better? What helps you get happy? Feel free to be like super specific. And you'll hear my answer next week!
Evie :)
