Mondays with Potter!

I just got back from seeing Harry Potter #1 in the movie theatre!!! It was wonderful; I don’t think I had ever seen that one in theatres. Every Monday for the next six weeks I will be seeing the next 6 movies then #7 pt. 2 at midnight on July 15th. I’m very excited for this Potter fest!!!

Evie as for your question I am not a movie buff in the slightest! So like any good student I did research, I decided that after reading a few lists and such a really fantastic actor is Tom Hanks. Just think about how many amazing movies he has been in; Big, A League of Their Own, Philadelphia (Oscar win), Forest Gump (2nd Oscar win in 2 years), Apollo 13, Toy Story (the man is Woody!!!), Cast Away (he co-starred with a volleyball!) and the Da Vinci Code. Another thing I like about him, besides his acting, is that he has a relatively low profile you never see a scandal about him in a magazine. He also just seems like a nice guy. I know my answer is not that interesting but there you go; Tom Hanks.

Till next time,

I kinda love film..... :D

Hmmm what an interesting and fun question! Being something of a HUMONGOUS film fan I kind of love everything to do with movies.....well almost everything. This is not to say that I'm super knowledgeable or anything, I don't want to give false information here. I wouldn't like, challenge someone to a 'who knows more about film' contest or anything. Yea.
Anyways, the Potter trio is pretty interesting, especially looking back at the interviews from when they were so young! Miah showed me a couple from the first movie and it's strange to think that a huge number of people basically watched these three grow up.
So, the thing about these stars (and they are already stars :P) is that they are really famous and stuff for Harry Potter, which is internationally known, but all the other stuff they've done film wise is basically all in the UK. So if we were talking about having a long film career without specifying in which country I would say that Rupert Grint has already started. He's already done a bunch of films, three of which I could name off the top of my head. But if we're talking about just general popularity and a successful career just staying famous I would definitely say Daniel Radcliffe (haha the computer does recognize his last name!!) cuz he has already gone to Broadway and I saw for myself how many fans he still has. Also he's in the paper way more often than the other two :P
I don't know about Emma Watson. I mean, she's famous for the Harry Potter series that's for sure but she's not a super fantastic actress so maybe Lee was right saying she might go into like fashion or something. She was already the face for Burberry right?......Yup! She could DEFinitely go into modeling if she wanted to, she's gorgeous. But, who knows? Maybe she'll take some acting classes and WHAM, she'll be a totally brill actress :P
So, having talking all that out, I'd say that Daniel Radcliffe will be the most famous, he WAS the main character after all, but that Rupert Grint will have the longest film career...but I agree with Lee again, he should probs get away from that role he always does, the 'mopey teenager' thing cuz it feels like he's already getting type-cast.

Right! Well, I've got to go soon. My dad is getting an operation on his knee and I'm the chauffeur :)
Also, because I missed yesterday's post this one is going to count as TWO posts :P So this week's Friday question is........hmmm I think I'd like to do another movie question......okay okay I got it:
Who do you think is a really fantastic actor/actress? Not your favourite, not the best looking, not the most famous, just a really solid good actor or actress. Also beef it up with some reasons ya? :P And you'll hear my (probably long-winded) answer next week!
Ttfn!

Pop Culture Nerd

OK so I'm siting here catching up on the last three episodes of Oprah, I am an Ellen person, but I mean its a huge moment in Pop Culture and I'm a Pop culture nerd (in case you haven't figured that out yet.) I'm currently on the first episode of the final three, even though it ended today I wanted to at least say I watched them.
As of late I've been designing stuff for my camp and that's been keeping me really busy, so busy that I almost missed seeing Bridesmaids for the second time! (Miss seeing it, I hadn't seen it before this afternoon, and OMG was it fantastic!) I can't really tell you what I'm doing, but its fun.
Hmm what else. Ugh Oprah's distracting.
OK well I'm moving soon, long story as to why but my family and I are moving or shifting as someone said once. So yeah its kinda stressful and worrisome because I don't know where I'm gong to live. Whats most annoying my parents are looking into moving into an apartment because we can't afford a house. And anyway I'm not keen on the apartment cause its not a load of privacy, especially when I have friends over.
As far as my Friday question, I am going to totally shock you but I think Rupert Grint will have the longest career, this is completely based off of what he's done up until now in between and after filming the Potters. He's done the most film, and hasn't been dabbling in things like musicals and plays. He's obviously building a career and has been since he started (Thunderpants anyone?) I'm sucker for the underdog and well lets face it he's the underdog of Trio. Also looks wise he's not the normal mold of super megastar looks wise, and well movies always need a quirky person.
But I mean I would love if all of the Harry Potter kids who wished to have longevity will have it, cause well it be nice to put in Harry Potter 30 years from now and just be in awe of all of them.
OK. More Oprah to watch.

A Very Potter Post

I'm all tuckered out! Long day, and an active one. No but actually I woke up at 11, so I guess it hasn't been a long day. But it has been active.

Anyway, Friday question. Here is a breakdown of my thoughts on the matter, because… because it's complex.

Emma Watson: The most attractive of the three actors, she would be likely to succeed because of that. However, she's not a very talented actress, so maybe she will become big in some other field, like modelling or being a talk show host or designing clothes. Then again maybe she'll improve?

Rupert Grint: Again, not a great actor, but I think he's getting a lot better. If he can diversify beyond his mopey teenager acting skills, he could really go somewhere!

Daniel Radcliffe: My spellcheck recognizes "Radcliffe" as a proper noun. Who knew? Anyway, I guess he could have a long career ahead of him as long as he really puts "kid" roles behind him. If he has a successful movie in which he plays a very different character, I think that could be enough to shake of his image of just being that Potter boy.

So out of all of them, Daniel Radcliffe in my opinion has the best chance of making it big, since he does seem committed to branching out, and he's got the most acting talents. Least likely? Maybe Emma Watson. As usual Rupert Grint is virtually overlooked. :P

Today is Victoria Day!

All that means (if you don’t already know) is that we get a day off and shoot fireworks off. The history to it is that it is a day to celebrate the current monarch’s birthday and has been celebrated since before Canada was Canada. I spent my day making cookies for the fireworks later and cleaning my room.

Miah to your question... there is a chance that it could be any of them. From what they have all produced since and during it would appear that it will be Daniel Radcliff but other people have made other movies etc. Also it is important to remember that after Potter was over not all of them kept with acting right away. I think it will be interesting to see what the next 10 years produces from the stars of Harry Potter.

Enjoy the fireworks tonight!

Till next time,

Random Shiz

Yeah iPhone notes! I'm up to my aunts house for dinner and I don't know when we'll get back... So typing on my iPhone again.Yahoo!
Ach this is so frustrating!
Ok so today I watched Dan Rad on the Late Show and the View...and well he's charming. But something's different about his personality. Maybe he's home sick, or exhausted. Or maturing. Ugh maturity, why must we all succumb to thee? Oh on a similar note, Evie and I figured out that we literally walked passed Christopher Hanke, I am still so upset by this realization.
Ok so my Friday question is... Oh ok. Since we are now 2 months to Friday, July 15th or 55 days (depending on how picky you are) I wanna know who you predict will have the longest career of the Harry Potter kids, any and all are up for discussion. Strange question I know, but I have my theories and I wanna hear yours.
Yeah for a lot of random Shiz!!!!
Ok thats it.

It's just so far away....

Rebranding eh?
I also am under the impression that advertising can be really powerful, BUT as Lee just said to me (she's here as I blog) it's like a big deal that it's so far away. If I think about it I really like the Zoo...it's cool. I mean there are animals there that I would never be able to see otherwise! Like super exotic animals that are just...cool ya know?

Sooooooo I guess I just think that advertising could go pretty far (i mean they dont exactly advertise a whole lot now and I don't really go a whole lot now.....) and that whole shuttle bus idea seems pretty good too! Honestly I don't know how to make the zoo more popular but as you can tell I liked all your ideas! :P

Anywho Lee and I need to be on our way because we're off to meet some friends to go see Bridesmaids!! Woo hoo! I'm so excited, it's gon be so FUNny!
Shortest post ever right here, tata for now :D

iPhone

Ok so my computer literally just got strange... It thinks its December 31 2007... So yeah typing on me new iPhone! Thank god I've learned to type fast on tuis cause o my iPod touch, or else I would kill myself.
Anyway zoo power. I actually disagree with what you guys have said. I think it's simply a matter of rebranding, of reminding people that the zoo is a fantastic resource where a lot research and breeding for wild life happens. It's also a fantastic place for a family to spend a day, and even a cool place for anyone really. The zoo needs to remind people of these things and also private corporations need to donate money, and hopefully this would mean that the price can drop and be more financially accessible for everyone.
Glad to hear you're feeling better Rae.
And with this I sign off, hands tired of typing this way. I had more to say, but it ain't happening this way.

Zoooooo

Rae, glad it's going well with the bone graft. I think 2 for 1 deals would definitely work, maybe if they published coupons in the Toronto Star or something; ones you had to cut out then present at the door. Gotta publicize!

My idea, which addresses what Rae mentioned about it being so far away, is to have a free shuttle bus. They currently are starting one up to go from Union Station to Vaughn Mills, so it's clearly something that people believe in as a way of increasing attendance. Imagine maybe a free shuttle bus (all decorated with animal themes) that left from Yonge and Eg or something. It might go along Eglinton until it hit Don Mills, then up to Steels or something and off to the zoo? There is a bus that will take you right from Don Mills to the zoo, but we all know how people are. Nobody wants to go to depressing old Don Mills and transfer to a bus just to get to the zoo.
But a shuttle bus from Yonge and Eg, though it might even take longer to get to the zoo, goes "directly" there and might be considered a more desirable way to go. Who knows?

Side note we should all go to Vaughn Mills by shuttle bus sometime :P

I spent last week looking like a chipmunk

Let me start off by saying sorry for not blogging last week. Last Monday I had surgery to be specific a bone graft in my mouth. The reason is long and complicated and I don’t wish to talk about it right now so I won’t. Needless to say after that I spent all last week in bed watching a lot of TV and doing a lot of sleeping. Yes that includes my birthday, I spent all day in bed watching TV and because of the meds I am taking I could not even have a drink! :P As for my question I have on and off collected things over the years, such a key chains and stuffed animals. Today I had to re see my surgeon and he said that I am doing wonderfully but need to keep my mouth very clean so brush a lot and use this special mouth cleaner thing he gave me. The zoo... well I have never been very attached to it I think the big thing for me is that it is kinda in the middle of nowhere so you need a car also it is kinda expensive. As for ways to get people to go I don’t know normal ways like percentage off or 2 for 1 deals.

Till next time,

Rae <3

Saturday - oops

Yesterday I woke up late and went to bed early. Suffice it to say, I didn't blog haha. So hello here is my blog.

I heard that the elephants are leaving the zoo. There is some question of what will happen to the zoo now – is it on a decline?

If you ran the zoo… how might you attempt to raise attendance and therefore alleviate some of the financial difficulties?

Who's that chick?

Soooo i have a new favourite song....any guesses? no?

"She's been a crazy dita disco diva and you wonder
WHO'S THAT CHICK?
WHO'S THAT CHICK?"

It's kind of amazing :P (it's by Rihanna in case you're curious and you can find it here)

Right, on to the question of the week, do I collect things. Honestly? I don't think I have the memory for it. I try to collect things, I do! I just forget. Like the ticket stubs from movies I really liked or concerts or musicals or plays...I once tried to collect shells from all the different places I'd been to but I only go to Florida soo......ya. I do have a couple of envelopes in my room in this box that have the few ticket stubs i actually remembered to save and I have this dream that someday I'll actually put them into a scrapbook or something, but if I'm being honest I'll probs just end up like paying someone else to do it :P Or just leaving it there till....forever?
Like I said before my memory isn't built for that kind of stuff so I might even forget about the few things I have collected leaving them to collect dust! Ha! See what I did there? with the word collect? Clever eh?

Weeeeell I'm off to a student film festival tonight with a friend (who shall remain nameless...or we could call something interesting like.......Velma? sure Velma sounds good). So yea, me and my friend Velma will be chillin watchin movies, being cool ya kno :P

Later guys!

Meeting Daniel Radcliffe

Its official I'm moving back to New York its too fantastic, exciting, lively, and awesome to just vacation in I need to live there. Toronto comparatively is so boring, and dull and quite. I love big cities and New York is the best big city out there! All of the people, places, and things to do! Oh man, I miss it too much.
Anyway our trip was fantastic, at least from my perspective. We did so much stuff and saw so many things I can even explain! I think the two highlights from the trip were walking through Central Park and meeting Daniel Radcliffe/ seeing How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. I loved walking through Central Park cause I don't remember doing that really. Also we saw hilarious street performers, that didn't make me bored or annoyed. "If you speak English step forward, everyone else will follow." And then How to Succeed was the funniest musical I have ever seen! I couldn't stop laughing, even at parts that weren't that funny I laughed! I do have to admit I was worried leading up to it that I wouldn't like it cause I'm not a huge fan of old musicals, I prefer modern ones, but because it was so funny!!! I do have to admit with Daniel Radcliffe I wasn't totally impressed, he seemed to be trying too hard. But like Evie said that was also his character... so who knows. Anyway I got to meet him and OMG my heart was pounding and well he accidentally touched my hand, and my life turned literally into this sing song (technically wrong musical, but still.) Oh and here's a picture to prove the interaction. So yeah, fantastic trip to New York Citay.
Anyway I collect some things. I collect playbills, unfortunately I don't have all of the shows I've ever seen but I do have a good portion of them. I do have all of my playbills from the shows that I've seen on Broadway, so that's good. I also collect magazine covers, of favourite celebs like the Harry Potter cast and Anne Hathaway, and big event ones like of the Canadian Olympics and the Royal Wedding (which I have yet to purchase... but that's a minor detail that I'll fix soon.) Umm and I also save some of my fortune cookie fortunes cause I dunno I like too. So yeah that's what I collect.

Buttons and stuff

Let's see, what do I collect…
  • buttons – both the fastening type and the ones that you pin to clothing
  • tickets from shows that I've been to – plays, musicals, concerts
  • autographs of awesome people – Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Eric Idle, to name a couple!
  • foreign coins and bills
  • postcards and letters that I get
That's all I can think of for now. Might think of some more later though… (come to think of it, why don't I collect anything George Harrison related??)

See you in Canada,
Lee
