Was I really the only kid that liked middle school?!?!

Miah you brought up a good point on Friday about middle school. I loved it and sometimes that feeling is in solitude, I know like 2 or 3 people (other than myself) that actually liked middle school. I can’t explain why I like it I just did. It was a lot of fun, I had the best class, awesome teachers and generally a good time. I understand the feeling of not being something-enough for people. I have never felt enough for many people in my life but that does not take away from the experience. I don’t think I ever felt smart enough until this year when my first semester average was a 90%, I had never had anything that good in my whole life. On top of that my whole life I have been a special education student – I have a learning disability – which has always held me back just a bit and made me not feel as smart as others but that never took away from my school experience.

I too was never that good at music (I played violin... long story as to why I picked that) but neither were many of the people in my class. On ALL of our theory tests as a class we helped each other cheat... our binders had to be black and when you write in pencil on a black binder in certain lights you can see what you wrote, you figure out the rest! :P

Also sports have never been my forte but I always gave it 100%. I am not a runner either I don’t think I have ever passed a 12 minute run in my whole life! My brother was always the sports guy and I always did my best when I played with him and it was fun so I enjoyed it in that regard. I loved gym class in grade 9 because it was all girls. When in a mixed gym class playing sports you never get the ball because the boys will never pass to you so grade 9 gym class was amazing! I got into the games and such because I knew that I would look good beside most of the people in my class and that I would actually get a chance to play due to there being no boys!

Miah, I hope you are feeling better now! :D

And the winners are... (the ones in bold are the one I have picked to win)

Nerd Fighter

Hey Guys!
So its my friday, and so here I blog!
Today was a fine day, I only have one class on Fridays from 12-3 so yeah...
We had Life Drawing today, and that was a load of fun! Strange cause the model is someone I often drew in High School.
Which made me think about High School, and how much I had changed over those four years. I mean I was shyer then shy, awkwarder then awkward and a nerd in denial. But now... well now I'm still shy but confident about being shy, I embrace my awkwardness, and well I'm now a Nerd Fighter, so that explains everything. But seriously I grew so much over those four years at High School, it kind of amazes me, and makes me wonder how much I'll grow, or rather I think the better word is evolve over the remaining four years at University.
Lalala... transition time to a completely different topic... lalala...
Oh, so yesterday I had the WORST period cramps I have ever had. They were so bad, that I came home and missed my afternoon class, oh and my mom for the first time bought menstral tyelnol. Now, I know what you female folk say "oh just suck it up!" well let me tell you on most occasions I do, but as I've gotten older the cramps have gotten worse. Also yesterday was the first time since I was in Grade 7 that I went home because of my period. Which made me think about Middle school, and how important those years were for me, or raher everyone really. So, I will admit middle school was crap, I was misserable my two years spent there. The teachers were all right, but they expected so much from me, and constantly gave me 55-75% because I wasn't "smart" enough for that school. Also they broke us up by music course, and well I was terriable at music, absoluetly terriable and so once again that made me miserable because I wasn't
"musical" enough for that school. And then once again stupid Gym and Pool, I hate sports I don't think that the way Gym and Pool are taught are in anyway a good idea. Like because I can't run 12 laps in 12 minutes I fail that test, yet I'm just as winded as everyone else! So once again I wasn't "sporty" enough for that school. But the thing that I know everyone feels in middle school is the social scene; the Oh- eM-Gee, the evil eyes, the way too soon maturity, the "why are my friends so mean!?!?!" Yep my social life in middle school sucked, and yes I was bullied. My entire class was made up of the "popular kids" I in many classes sat next to the boy everyone (but me) had a crush on, because my teachers thought I could shut him up with my "vibe." The girls in my class would wear their clothes similar to how I wore mine and ask to eachother "would you be my friend if I dressed like this?" I only like about 5 people in that class, and everyone else I wanted to slap and yell at. So, I just wanted to share a story, about my most embarassing and hurtful day in middle school. It day that I went home because of my period, but it wasn't because of cramps but because I had leaked all over my pants. And I disticinctly remember all of those popular kids sitting at the back of my French class whispering and laughing. I didn't have a sweater to tie around my waste so I wore a pink coat until my mom came to give me a change of clothes, but instead seeing the tears in my eyes let me stay home that day. But it was because of those kids that I am who I am, the bullies in my life (and there were plenty, let me tell you) showed me that if I laugh at my self, and if I'm confiedent in my self then I've already beaten them to their game. They also taught me not to follow the crowd and be my own individual, because well who really wants to be a clone? So in many ways middle school was the best and worst years of my life.
Now for another awkward transition... lalalala
Friday Question Time!
Ok Oscar nomminations are out! So lets get a betten! Copy this list into your blog and bold who you think will win! Then we shall see who guessed the most come February 27th! Yeah! Even if you don't know what to choose pick one, cause that way its more fun!
Yeah... its kinda long(not kinda really long), but I wanted to get Harry Potter in there, I mean I'm not biased!

Social lubricant and all that

HellOoo!! (Mrs. Doubtfire anyone? :P)
Ha! So, an excellent friday question this week no? I am just a sucker for romance....and nostalgia I guess. Flowers or a smile? *Sigh, I would totally go for a smile :D It's just so...personal. And I love smiles. Especially a smile from a guy. Who I like. Makes me melt a little inside. Again, *sigh.
Flowers would be nice I suppose, but I have to agree with Lee on this one. It totally has major creeptastic potential, and having just watched Scream the other night...well actually, with that movie in mind I wouldn't want flowers or a smile if my crush was a phsycopath. Ugh *shudders*. It was so disturbing I couldn't not watch.
Now, my regret from 2010. I have a couple I suppose, but I like Miah's philosophy that everything happens for a reason. It's nice to think of things that way. Like going to prom with friends. Would I have danced with such abandon if I'd had a date? Would I have been as relaxed and had as much fun with my friends? And what would I say anyway? I regret not having been asked? I can't exactly say I regret not asking anyone because there is no WAY I would have had the pluck to do the asking. No. Way. So I guess something I do regret (in a minor way) is not getting drunk and going out with my friends very much. I think that getting together on the weekends is way fun and getting together and drunk on the weekends brings people together, you know? Social lubricant and all that. It's a lame thing to regret cause I can just do it more often now, but I feel like it's different in high school because you spend so much time being serious and studious (or at least I spend so much time being serious and studious) in school that it might've been nice to blow off some steam with friends on the weekend. And maybe I'm just lost in fantasy land on this one but...you know it's kinda nice there :)
Right-O, I will see you all on the flip side! Next week that is...
Evie :D
ps. I should mention that I had fun on Tues with Lee and Miah but that I didn't do too much this week so there isn't really anything to update you on...hence the lack of...updating and stuff :P

British Accent

OK, so writing this at 12:37 am, but I'll set it to post at 12:37 pm... woah crazy time!
OMG I just totally realized its Ellen DeGeneres Birthday!!!! So, Happy Birthday Ellen, you're amazing and I love watching you everyday! -- She'll totally never see that, but just putting that out there.
Yes I like the Ellen show, and yes I like the world of celebrity, I dunno its just who I am. I like a lot of famous people, deal with it son! Ugh I'm tired!
Hmm... What to blog about other then the birth of my favourite talk show host...
...
...
...
OMG OK!
Well, yesterday Evie and I headed down to Lee's place to plan our Birthday Smash (the three of us are born eight days apart.) And well the subway had broken down, going in the opposite direction that we were headed, so its wasn't a big deal just that there was, what can only be described as herds of cows waiting for a shuttle bus. Any who whilst waiting for Evie I noticed this guy, this very attractive guy. He reminded me of one of the cast members of Spring Awakening, so naturally I slightly stared, and then the most AMAZING thing happened. He asked me what was going on, I told him what I knew. Now, I know this means nothing too you... but, the best part is... HE HAD A BRITISH ACCENT! Ugh so amazing!
How convenient, this brings us to my Friday Answers. Ok, so I would totally be cool with just a smile, because while flowers would be amazing, a smile from a crush is so much more. I am an imaginative person, so a single smile, or in the case of yesterday a question, can make me go off into a land of fantasy (which I realize has faults.) But flowers, to me leads to questions, like who is this person, why are they sending me flowers? I have had jerks in my life think its funny to make me think they like me, (even anonymously asking me out in a boost of confidence activity in Grade 10 French class) so I know if I got flowers I would totally be questioning the motive. Where as a smile, is a smile, that’s all the boost of confidence I need.
As far as what I regret from 2010, to be honest not much. I am a true believer that things happen for a reason, that what we may regret, can possibly lead to something in the future. I mean if there is one thing I do regret its not visiting my Grand Mother in her final month of life, I had my reasons for not wanting to (and I know she would've understood), which I don't feel like explaining at the moment. But I do wish I had, but then again how would I have known, I didn't know that her last day/week would be the week after my acceptance to my school, one of the happiest days of my life. I was planning on visiting her the week after though, the one that if she had lived longer would have been another week in her life, but obviously that didn't happen. But still I don't regret it, because that’s the way things happened. Like yesterday with the whole change of meeting spot, if the subway hadn’t broken down I wouldn't have talked to a gorgeous Brit man.
Ok, I need sleep now.
Hahaha confusing!
Miah

Eek

A bit past 12. No worries, no worries.

To answer my Friday Question of Amazingness:
  1. I would prefer a smile from the boy I like. Flowers from a stranger? Mysterious and all, but it's kind of creepy. I mean, I would be a little worried, and that worried feeling wouldn't go away, because it's a secret person who might continue to do secret things. Eek! Plus the boy I like has a smile that stops me in my tracks!
  2. Um regrets? ONE regret? As though there aren't many?? Actually there aren't many, but I think I regret not standing up for my happiness enough, back in the first half of 2010. I really allowed people to upset me when I could have just said, "woah bitch, stop right there. you dumb." (Or perhaps something more eloquent and powerful.) If I went back and did it again, I think I would be pretty out there, braver in my actions to stop people from manipulating my feelings (and by consequence my actions).
I suppose that in some ways, regrets could be thought of as a disease for those who can't just "live and learn". People who are very nostalgic or who, on the other hand, lament the past during their every waking hour are sort of hard to watch. You just want to yell, "GET OVER IT!"

But Evie, I'm sure you would join me in saying that that's a little harsh. People is people is people… let 'em be.

Personally, however, I would like to avoid regret. Whether that takes the form of not ever doing things I regret, or learning to move on from actions I'm not happy with… it's all a matter of practice.

Live and learn… a nice little philosophy!
-Lee

Flowers and a Concert

Getting flowers means that they (in theory) like you in that way getting a smile may mean nothing. So flowers are my choice.

As for regrets only one comes to mind – October 22, 2010. On that day one of my favourite internet bands ALL CAPS was playing their only Canada show. I was going to go but I was too scared to miss a class so I did not go and I really wish I had. This time when I was gonna miss class to go to something I really wanted to go I did it. On Friday Evie went back to our old high school to see a friend’s one act, she was the director, and it was worth missing class for. It was a very good show.

I don’t know if I have told you guys but I’m taking a children’s literature class so when I was at home I raided it fir kids book... fun times! On the bus back I read Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants, man I love those books!

Till next time,

Rae <3
