I actually love hearing my parents' stories...is that weird?

You know it's weird to think of your parents as a young couple being all shy with each other or at least a little awkward like everyone when they first meet. I just know how my parents are now, as two people who have known each other for forever (as far as I'm concerned) and are completely comfortable with each other. So asking my mom about how she met my dad and hearing her say things like "I thought he was so cute and sexy!" is kinda.......strange? uncomfortable? blush inducing? Take your pick, whatever it is it's also hilarious :P

So how did my parents meet? Slash marry? Well so far I only have my mom's side of things, so I may add some comments from my dad later when he gets home from work. But my mom's story goes something like this:

My parents were both living in Fort McMurray, Alberta (click here and scroll down for the map - don't worry I had no idea where it was either :P) when they met at a Halloween dance. My mom was dressed as a very risque version of the little green sprout - you know the green giant on the canned green bean labels? well apparently there used to be a little green sprout too - and my dad was dressed as the safety dinosaur who's name I can't remember - he was an electrical engineer at the time, safety first! And they danced! How cute right? It was five months of meeting randomly at parties where my mom thought my dad was super cute and funny too, before he asked her out "finally!" says my mom. Well clearly my mom was a bit more outspoken so about a year later she asked my dad if he wanted to get married...it was a no go, but don't worry there was a second time too and this time he said yes! :D
They were married in the summer <3

Not sure if I have a good photo, I'll post it later if I find one!

Well unless my dad has something to say I'll see you next week!
Evie :)

PS. Okay there has been an update from my dad. Apparently my mom was actually living with her ex-boyfriend in Fort McMurray when she and my dad met, so after the dance when my dad saw her leave with this other guy it made things a tad confusing and complicated. That's why he waited; he was trying to figure out what her relationship status was! Also, just because it's so romantic and sweet, I'd like to add that it was my dad who approached my mom and asked her to dance. My mom said that their courtship (yes she actually used that word, amazing!) was completely idyllic and very romantic. Isn't that so nice? I thought so too :D
