One year later

About a year ago, I started blogging as Lee, in an internet café in Paris. At that time, I was on the cusp of many new experiences. (My first year of university springs to mind!) But at the time, I wasn't really thinking of the future. I – and Evie and Sloan – had just begun our two-week adventure, and to think ahead would be to anticipate the end of our awesome trip.

But the future came about anyway. With it ended our Eurotrip, began August, then ended August, and led to… university! Living in residence, taking crazy courses all over campus, spending a tonne of money, meeting new people, studying, not studying, traveling back and forth to a not-so-nearby university… Lots of stuff to experience!

And I think that those experiences changed me, as all experiences do, at least a little. I regret dropping Tae Kwon Do between last year and this year, though that was hardly avoidable. And I regret stopping my french studies. But I think that I am less shy, more ready to talk to strangers I meet. And I have a better idea of what interests me, and of what studies I want to pursue further. If I got a bit lazier, it's only because I had so much more work to do!

As for what I can't wait for, in the future… well I don't really know. My own family – that's a hard concept to wrap my head around – is something I look forward to very much. And settling down in a job I like; I hope I can manage to do that. Other than that… I guess it's like the Eurotrip. I am so busy doing what I'm doing, I don't really have the time or the need to look forward into the future! I will find out what it holds, day by day, and try to make it a happy one for me and for the people I love.
